Measures to make digital content in Europe more accessible, usable and exploitable, formerly funded under the eContentplus programme, have been continued since 2009 under the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Policy Support Programme ("ICT PSP"), one of three specific programmes implemented through the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (2007-2013) ("CIP").
The draft CIP ICT PSP work programme for the year 2010 is now available. EUR 30 million will be available for funding projects under the following objectives: Coordinating Europeana, enhancing/aggregating content in Europeana, digitising content for Europeana, access to European rights information/registry of orphan works, open access to scientific information and statistics on cultural heritage digitisation activities.
The Commission is organising a general Information Day in Brussels on 14 January 2010. That Information Day will cover all 6 themes of the work programme. Please go to the ICT PSP website to register for this event.
In addition, a dedicated Information Day for the theme of Digital Libraries will take place in Luxembourg on Thursday, 4 February 2010. The main items on the agenda will be information about the 2010 objectives, the technical requirements for joining Europeana as well as practical advice on the application procedure, the evaluation of proposals and support for proposers. Registration is open until Friday, 29 January 2010 at 18:00 hrs via the programme website. Please tick the up to 3 objectives you are most interested in learning about.
Please note the possibility of requesting a bilateral meeting with either an EC Project Officer to obtain feedback on outline proposal ideas or with Europeana to discuss how to contribute content. To register for a bilateral meeting, please complete the relevant bilateral meeting request form that can be downloaded through the Information Day agenda from the programme website and send it to the Helpdesk (econtentplus@ec.europa.eu) with "bilateral request EC" or "bilateral request Europeana" as the subject line. You will receive a confirmation of your meeting with the acknowledgement of receipt.
